Alexandria Symphony Orchestra

The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943 during World War II, when Miss Lucie Neale Landen recruited 40 amateur musicians to play orchestral music together. Over the years, it evolved into a professional orchestra under the direction of Kim Allen Kluge in 1988 and expanded its programs, collaborating with prominent cultural institutions. In recent times, the ASO has continued its commitment to education through initiatives like the Sympatico program, and it welcomed James Ross as its fifth Music Director in 2018, bringing innovative concert experiences and engaging new audiences.
